A little while back, I recommended Lev Grossman’s book The Magicians, which many people have touted as “Harry Potter for grownups”.
Recently I came across an enchantingly raw article about one writer’s rough start in the backwoods of Maine. I didn’t know who had written it; I was just drawn in by the simultaneous despair and optimism of it. When I got the end, I thought, I wonder if that writer ever made it. Have I heard of him? I scrolled back up to the top, and who should be listed as the author but our acquaintance Lev Grossman.
Even if you’re not a would-be writer, I encourage you to check it out.
